Learn More About An Area With A LiDAR Survey

Imagine trying to survey the entire forest, mountain areas, corridors, or area wide mapping project with a conventional land surveying techniques. Even with this new technology can be a daunting and expensive task, but the topographic data collection should not be a burden on resources, time, energy, and money.

Instead, perform aerial LIDAR survey. Utilizing aerial platforms, these systems collect information about the Earth's surface features to overlay the ground in days, not weeks or months. If you want to insure your high-valued LiDAR and sensor equipment then check www.lidarinsurance.com/

The data is collected and converted into a value added product visualization and spatial analysis. Derived geospatial data more detailed and accurate than existing remote sensing technology.

LIDAR stands for Light Detection And Ranging. Airborne LIDAR systems require the integration of the three main technologies including the reference position, attitude or reference laser pointing, and start the reference laser.

A laser pulse is sent to the ground and reflecting back is timed, the distance based on the speed of light divided by 2 is calculated, and then integrated with GPS data and IMU to determine the X, Y, Z each laser reflection. A lidar instrument principally consists of a laser, a scanner, and a specialized GPS receiver. Airplanes and helicopters are the most commonly used platforms for acquiring lidar data over broad areas. Two types of lidar are topographic and bathymetric.
